Paws Barkery was started in 2002 by Janie, a loving owner, for her dog LuLu. LuLu was allergic to most dog treats on the market, so Janie began her quest to make healthy and delicious treats that every dog could enjoy. Read LuLu’s story here.
In 2009, we came upon Paws Barkery treats.
Our German Shepherd, Token, has allergies and was having difficulty eating the mass market dog treats, often becoming extremely itchy and irritated afterward. Our Token is part of the family, and it became our mission to find him all natural, delicious tasting treats that wouldn’t leave him miserable afterward.
We spent many months scouring the local stores and the internet, and finally amassed quite a variety of treats we deemed healthy enough for Token and for our black lab, Draco. Our dogs liked a few and sniffed or didn’t even try others, but that “perfect treat” was not found. Then we discovered Paws Barkery.
The first thing we bought were the Snickerdoodles. The smell was not your typical “dog chow” smell, but more like something you would find in your grandma’s kitchen. As we took out the first treat and offered it to our guys, we finally got the reaction we were hoping for - our picky eaters’ eyes got bigger and they started to drool. As any dog owner knows, that is the highest approval you will ever receive from your best friend! From the first moment they tried the treats they were hooked, and we were thrilled to finally be able to give them something nutritious and natural that brought them so much joy.
After contacting Janie to thank her, we discovered that due to the needs of her own dogs, she didn’t have the time necessary to operate Paws Barkery, and that the company was up for sale. We didn’t have to think twice—purchasing Paws Barkery was one of the easiest decisions we ever made!
